Remember in the third grade when your teacher made you create analogies? For example, PENCIL: WRITER: VOICE: SINGER. Simple right? So that was our homework assignment for a week, and I created some pretty awesome analogies. I was so excited about my analogies that I wanted to show my teacher the next day!
Me-WATER: ASTRONAUT
Teacher-No.
Okkk…..
Me-MOM: DINNER
Teacher- Not quite
…Getting a little desperate…
Me-TEACHER: ROCK
Teacher- Hmmm no
Me- BROTHER: SOUND??
Teacher- Nah uh
Turns out, I was so terrible at making analogies!! I don’t know that I've fully mastered the concept of analogies to this day, but I do know that I've come to understand at least one. NUTRITION: SKIN. This analogy makes perfect sense because it means what you eat directly affects your skin. Skin conditions are not always genetic. In fact, a lot of skin conditions (acne; rashes) can be cured by a change of diet.
Here’s a more specific analogy- NUTRITION: SKIN : NUTRITION : COLLAGEN PRODUCTION- Eating nutritious foods promote collagen production. Collagen is a type of protein that gives the skin firmness and elasticity, and collagen also prevents wrinkles from forming. As you get older, collagen production slows down tremendously. This makes your skin breeding grounds for WRINKLES. Why does collagen production slow down as you get older? As we age, we begin to lose certain hormones in our bodies. This is why Doctor’s prescribe hormone replacement supplements as you start to hit your 50’s. However, The FIX: SIMPLE : A CHANGE OF DIET : COLLAGEN PRODUCTION. Get it?
I've researched and experimented with a lot of foods. Below are the TOP 4 foods that I found affected my skin the quickest, in terms of clear skin and producing collagen. Here they are:
TOP 4 COLLAGEN PRODUCING FOODS
1. Vitamin C- Oranges berries, and peppers- you name it! Vitamin C has been proven to reverse the signs of aging (collagen decline) in your skin. Even Dr. Oz talked about Vitamin C and how beneficial it is for reversing aging.
2. Dark Green Vegetables- Examples are broccoli, spinach, and kale. They are all rich in Vitamin C and help support the body’s capability to use collagen protein successfully.
3. Soy Products- My favorite soy products are chocolate soy milk and tofu sprinkled on top of a salad. Soy products are rich in Vitamins B1, B12, and D; protein; niacin; folate; calcium; copper; iron; magnesium; zinc; manganese; potassium, and they are all great for producing collagen and tightening the skin.
4. Chocolate...yes! - Chocolate is really good for your skin because it’s rich in Vitamins and minerals like potassium and copper. We’re all guilty of abusing chocolate, whether you've eaten chocolate to get over PMS or an ex. From now on you can indulge in chocolate guilt free because it is healthy for your skin!
Thanks for reading my blog. Stick around for the next one. Have a fabulous day!
